7 years ago, with no previous knowledge or experience, i volunteered full time as a respite carer as a means to an end. i learned a lot about various health illnesses and conditions i had never heard of before or only knew very little about, but most importantly, i found endless fulfilment in being genuinely relied upon for support and companionship, getting to know the individuals in my care as well as their families and friends and constantly finding ways to make life a little easier for these individuals. after volunteering, i knew that i wanted to "care" a bit more. 7 years later, I am still caring and loving every minute of it. I am naturally a positive, compassionate, friendly and optimistic person perhaps stemming from my own background. combined with my passion and determination to excel in any job placed before me, i have found my job as a carer very pleasant and fulfilling over the years.
